A traditional cobblestone installation by European masons was observed while travelling in Europe recently. Anthony was visiting our Historic European Cobblestone facility as well as stone quarries and other industry partners. He watched this crew installing cobblestone with precision and speed. Old-world craftsmanship at its finest!
Below is a close up photo of the very specific cobblestone hammer used by these masons. It assists in the tamping and positioning of each cobble. The hammer feels great in the hand; comfortable to use and hold.
The same technique seen in the video is recommended for the installation of our full height reclaimed antique cobblestone. Sand based installations with sanded joints will provide a classic look as well as permeability.
