100 to 400 years old, this genuine antique cobblestone and curb from Europe is history beneath your feet!

Historic European Cobblestone has already endured centuries of traffic from horses, wagon and tire wheels, pedestrians and all kinds of weather! This old-world material will continue to age beautifully and possibly outlast the life of your home!  Evoking plenty of charm, antique cobble and reclaimed curb will leave a lasting impression as a driveway, walkway or patio!

Antique reclaimed cobblestones from our Historic European Cobblestone collection have a unique and beautiful patina. This patina and natural color range is what sets reclaimed antique cobblestone apart from other natural stone – but especially from manufactured products. It simply cannot be reproduced.

Classic reclaimed European granite, ranges in color from dark gray to gray-green or gray-blue. An unusual option is genuine antique sandstone, which is actually an extremely hard/dense European stone, used for centuries and still quarried today! Its gorgeous color range is warm grays to earth-tones and provides a flatter surface than granite. This makes for a more foot-friendly stone which is suitable for rustic flooring or wine cellars as well as patio, walkway and driveway! There are many other types of cobblestone available and more than 6 sizes of square and rectangular shapes and sizes!

Old limestone curbing is available in a variety of sizes

The height of antique limestone curbing can be left natural (up to 18″ high) or sawn to your requirements. To handle curves in your garden, we also have extremely large granite rectangles (6″ wide x 12″ long x 12″ high) which are great options for curb and edging. These pieces are smaller than the limestone and allows more flexibility with design.

Traditionally, cobblestones were set in sand, with their narrower ends firmly set at the base and their wider tops nearly touching, with just a small amount of sand between them. No mortar was used. Many people still install them the traditional way. Most masons are capable of a quality installation. If any guidance is needed, we’re happy to provide installation advice by phone at no additional cost.

Sawn or sliced thin for pavers

While European cobblestones conjure up images of the liveried coachmen and gilded carriages of a distant era, there is a modern version as well. You can choose to have the bottom portion sawn or ‘sliced’ to a 2” thickness (or less if required), to be installed on a concrete base and grout the joints with mortar. Architects, designers and contractors appreciate our cobblestones for this versatility. Read this article for more information on antique cobblestone sliced or sawn thin for a paver installation.
