Reclaimed antique cobblestone is great material to use for perimeter edging or borders for your walkway path or driveway. The Historic European Cobblestone collection offers many options in different stone types; reclaimed granite (porphyry) or antique sandstone. There are several shapes and sizes to choose from; traditional square cobbles in 5×5, 6×6 or 7×7 or rectangles in 4×7 or 5×8. All can be set on a concrete bed, elevated for borders or edging for garden plantings. They’re also an effective way to retain decomposed granite or gravel.
In addition to classic reclaimed cobblestone, old limestone curbing and granite curb (shown above) are available in a variety of lengths and heights to use for borders and edging. Granite curb imported by Monarch Stone International are over-sized 12″ long x 6” wide x 12″ long, rectangle pieces that resemble huge cobblestones. The smaller granite curb size allows more flexibility with design, especially small curved garden areas. Granite curb can also be sawn to a lower profile in order to accommodate a concrete base. Both the antique reclaimed limestone curb and granite curb are appropriate in all-weather types including freezing conditions.
